Long-distance move from Arlington, TX to Elizabethton, TN

WHAT A RELIEF!!

My movers showed up prepared with tools and tape, and they really hustled to get my boxes loaded. WHAT A RELIEF it was seeing them handle the heavy stuff. One small lamp shade got dented, so I’m keeping this at four stars instead of five.

DO NOT USE THEM

DO NOT USE THIS MOVER. They sound great at first, talked to Joe, got a quote thought this was going to be easy since all the other reviews are 5 stars. No. 2 days before my move that I had scheduled a month ahead, still hadn't received any type of confirmation or pick up timing. Kept calling, was told that I would receive a call from dispatch the day before. Still didn't receive any calls the day before so had to keep calling and calling and finally was put through with a supervisor, Joseph, that told me somehow my move had slipped through the cracks entirely. Come moving day, movers showed up late and did the poorest packing job ever (paid $400+ just for packing). Also tried to charge me fees that were not part of the contract and double what was listed in the original contract provided when I booked my move. Refused to give me a receipt of what I paid, told me I would receive that via email from the company. When my stuff was loaded, had to pay 1/2 of balance, few day laters I get a balance that doesn't reflect the half already paid. Called them and told them bank had a receipt of my check being cashed, was told I would get an updated balance, which never came. Called back few days later and was supposed to be transferred to supervisor however was hung up on and then phone number was unreachable. When delivery day came, the carrier tried to add more fees on top, (close to $800) most of which were written no where in the contract and the fee amounts that were, they were trying to once again get my to pay double from what was listed in my original contract. Most of my items are damaged, completely broken, soiled, or missing. A lot didn't have stickers on them so movers weren't sure what belonged to me and other items are unaccounted for. The inventory list they provided wasn't even complete. I don't know who wrote all these 5 star reviews but do yourself a favor and pick anyone else. Don't fall for this scam of a moving company,

Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to Dallas, TX

Thanks David

I'm a dentist and I had a clinic in IL that I needed to move to my new place in TX. I got x David from vanlines to take care of all the shipping arrangements including the packing and unpacking. I wasn't even in the clinic when they loaded it. My assistant was there for the beginning and came back to lock everything up when they were done. I got everything here in TX and they organized everything for me. All I had to do was start taking in patients. I will definitely use them again.

DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY

I too was quoted a reasonable price, $9,000 and felt confident with my representative who did a FaceTime review of my home and belongings that needed to be included in the move. I was quoted a price that was fair, not the cheapest, but felt comfortable with X Van lines after reading good reviews. I even received a call from a new customer service agent who said he’d be working with me on the move, he even forwarded me tips on making the move so I felt really good about my decision in selecting X Vanlines 30 days in advance. I was told I’d get a call from X Vanlines 3 days prior to my move.

To my surprise the call was NOT quality control, but an effort to increase my cost for the move. The representative stated they give lower cost on the front end as to not scare of customers. This representative stated that the amount I was moving was greater than the amount of the original inventory even though we had sold off furniture that was in the first review. He stated the move required additional $2,000 due to the increased volume. I did not agree and he stated that X Van lines would only move the stated volume. Which I agreed since I had less furniture than originally quoted.

I had scheduled my move 1 month in advance for a Monday. I received a call Monday evening stating the movers would be at my home the next day, Tuesday. Tuesday afternoon at 4pm I received a call from the movers telling me it was too late to start and promised they would be there 8am in the morning, Wednesday. They finally showed up at 10:30am and the driver did an inventory and stated there was more than the original quote. At this point there was nothing I could do since I had already closed on the sale of my residence and paid $3,000 in advance for the move a month earlier. So I had to pay an additional $1,900 for the move which included $3,800 as the 2nd of 3 payments. Whilst the movers were packing and loading, the truck was left running. Around 1pm the truck was gone, half packed; I asked the movers who remained where was the truck. They stated the driver had to get fuel for the truck with it half loaded. Unbelievable!

They completed the loading at 9:30pm. Very nice and respectable moving personnel. The driver asked when would be the earliest delivery date; I said Friday since we would depart for the new home on Thursday and the driver noted that on my receipt.

They finally delivered our belongings on Tuesday, again not arriving until 10:30am in a different truck. Therefore, they unloaded all of our belongings from 1 truck and reloaded it into another truck. Needless to say, a lot of our belongs were damaged or broken; I.e. dented refrigerator, several broken picture frames, washing machine knobs broken at the switch, lost hardware for disassembled desks and damaged wood on bedroom furniture.

Had to pay cash or Postal money order $4,100 before they would unload.

Never heard from my representative again.

I would not use X Vanlines again and advise all from using this company to move your belongings.

Long-distance move from Austin, TX to Vista, CA

X Van Lines: A Bait and Switch Nightmare

Our move with X Van Lines was a complete disaster. The company engaged in a series of deceptive practices, including bait-and-switch tactics, exorbitant charges, and a complete lack of communication.

From the get-go, representatives Mitch and Chris promised a smooth move with their own dedicated team. They assured us they would be available every step of the way. However, on the actual moving day, both Mitch and Chris were mysteriously unreachable. Calls went unanswered, and emails remain unreturned to this day. This left us stranded with a crew of movers who spoke little to no English, making communication nearly impossible. It felt deliberately orchestrated to avoid any questions or concerns about the discrepancies from our initial agreement.

The move itself was a chaotic mess. The promised dedicated team vanished, replaced by third-party contractors who lacked professionalism. The pricing we were quoted ballooned significantly, leaving us with a final bill far exceeding our expectations. To top it all off, several essential items were missing, and numerous pieces of furniture, including irreplaceable family heirlooms from my great-grandmother, were damaged.

When we finally reached out to X Van Lines about these issues, their response was insulting. They offered a measly $200 discount in exchange for signing a "good faith agreement" that would silence us from leaving negative reviews or pursuing legal action. This further exposes their lack of integrity and willingness to exploit customers.

Save yourself the stress and heartache. Avoid X Van Lines at all costs. Choose a reputable moving company that prioritizes clear communication, customer service, and the safe handling of your belongings.

Long-distance move from Pikesville, MD to Port Saint Lucie, FL

Moving Nightmare

My wife and I used X Vanlines for a move from MD to FL. We got free storage for 36 days, a great initial price from Mike who beat a competitor price by $1000. The initial price was $8892. The price changed after quality control Mitch inflated numbers and said we didn’t have all items on list. Mike failed to record all items. The pickup price changed again increasing to $12,100. These people are fraudulent deceitful scammers. They should not be in business.

They damaged multiple items. They lost items. They left half our items in Baltimore when delivery came and delayed the rest 2 weeks. We are in process of trying to get refund of $6500. They have yet to settle.

Long-distance move from Saint Paul, MN to Akron, OH

Will never use them again

Will never be using them again. Was told at the start that they are not a broker (i.e. they use their own company vans, movers are their own people, etc.) and all costs are upfront (aka no hidden fees). When the movers arrived (from a company called Ideal Moving and Storage), I learn that X Van Lines is in fact a broker, but at that point I couldn't do anything as I needed to have my things moved. The movers then asked for further fees (which I fought to have taken off, such as the Premium Package fee since I did all the packing myself). It was difficult to communicate my frustrations with the movers as they spoke limited to no English.

When preparing for the movers to arrive, the team at X Van Lines called two days before and was told the movers would be arriving between 8-9 AM. However, the movers reached out the morning of pick-up to inform me that they were arriving between 10-11 AM. They did not arrive until 11:50 AM.

Something similar happened for drop-off as well. I was informed by the team at X Van Lines that they would be arriving between 6-7 PM. Instead, the movers (the same ones at pick up) reached out in the afternoon of that day that they would be arriving between 8-9 PM, only to arrive at 10:30 PM.

Upon delivery of items and after I've had a chance to go through my things, there were multiple damaged/broken items and pieces missing to putting certain pieces of furniture back together. At one point, I noticed a few items missing and had to remind the movers to double-check the truck.

I've filed a claims form for damages and losses (see photos for examples), and am waiting to hear back on next steps. Based on what I have been experiencing and also reading from others' experiences, I expect that process will be difficult. Take note that if the claims do go through, the agreement is that they will only cover 60 CENTS per pound per item. If you want more coverage, it is likely that the original estimate/payments for the move would be higher.

*Will edit my review once I go through the process.

Multiple instances of empty and/or false promises. Impatient customer service agents. Customer often gets blamed for things and gas lighted a LOT.

The one star I am giving this company is purely for Linda at X Van Lines. She was the most helpful agent I've had the pleasure of working with (was very patient and understanding with me and truly helped me as much as possible). Unfortunately, I only had the opportunity to work with her only for one day.

Long-distance move from Boston, MA to Culver City, CA

Over Promise and Under Perform - Avoid Them!

If you need a moving company, then stay away from X Van Lines at all costs (8107 Chancellor Row, Dallas, TX 75247; DOT: 3391195 MC: 1089913). This was by far the worst moving company I could have hired to move several boxes of items and miscellaneous household goods cross country from Boston to Los Angeles. They promised they would do a good job and they failed to meet the minimum expectations even for a small load. If I could give a zero rating, I would. I will explain why. It is a long story, but worth the read.

The pickup in Boston occurred June 20 and we needed for them to hold the move items for a few weeks which they said would be no problem because they had their own warehouse. Then, they said they would schedule a truck for the target date we requested of July 8. They promised they could hold the items for a couple of weeks which would give them time to schedule a truck to get the items moved. “No problem” is what we were promised.

As the July 4th weekend approached, I knew it would take 4 days for the items to make the trek across the US. They said they were limited to 500 miles per day per DOT rules. Fair enough. I contacted them the weekend before the holiday to see where in the process the items were. No response.

Since we live in Texas, we booked airfare and a hotel room for my family in LA so we could meet the movers and ensure everything was unloaded. I continued to reach out via text and calls before and after our travel to LA and still got no response from them.

When July 8 came, I finally spoke with someone in Customer Service and discovered the items were still in Boston in their warehouse. Imagine my frustration after putting down about $2000 in travel costs and taking time off work to have nothing arrive after being picked up 3 weeks earlier. Had they communicated that the items were still in Boston before we left Texas, we could have moved our travel plans. When I told the CS Rep that I was unhappy, they just said that the July 8 date was just the first delivery date and they could deliver any time after that. And when I tried to ask why they didn’t contact me earlier, the rep kept cutting me off and talking over me. I just had to hang up because the rep was rude and obstinate. I went back to contacting the original sales rep that sold me on this company. He expressed shock that this had happened and promised he would help me.

Now, we fast forward to July 23. I have been texting the sales rep and the CS Rep about the status of our move for several weeks. On July 12, I provided a date range that would work for us (7/25 to 8/7) when the first suggested date they provided (7/19 to 7/23) would not work. No response from anyone at this company about when the items were scheduled for pickup in Boston for the move to LA. Then I get a call from the driver, apparently a sub-contractor, that the items will be delivered the next day on 7/24. X Van Lines didn’t bother to accommodate my request. They apparently only care about what was convenient for them.

I had told everyone at X Van Lines I spoke with or texted that we live in Texas and we needed time to plan another trip out to California. Of course they spring the moving delivery on us without any real warning while ignoring my requested dates of 7/25 to 8/7.

The sales rep who promised he would help me after the first delivery date was missed, pushed me off to the scheduling department because he had no influence on the move itself. Another empty promise made.

In the end, we got help from our awesome real estate agent who could meet the movers and sign for the delivery. The agent went above and beyond to help us. This agent knows how to treat customers.

The final cherry on top of this story is we told X Van Lines back on July 8 that trucks over 20 feet were prohibited from the community where the delivery was to be made. Did they tell the driver that? Of course not, The driver explained that this was typical behavior from all moving companies they work with. If XVan Lines had no intention of telling the driver, they should have told me to do their job for them. Pathetic.

As for X Van Lines, please heed this story of how they over-promise and under-perform. They clearly have no clue on how to communicate with customers and actually do the basics of moving items from Point A to Point B in a professional manner. Stay away from this company for your moving needs unless you want to write the next horror story on this review site.

Long-distance move from San Antonio, TX to Cathlamet, WA

Excellent customer service

My name is Roger Pena. 2 weeks ago my daughter got a job in Washington. So she had to leave Texas immediately. It was so sudden but she did not have anything with her as far as furniture goes. I was scared because I was sending her inheritance through XVan Lines. I was so nervous and worried so I called customer service and some lady named Nicole got on the line. Mind you this was extremely important to me to give my daughter her inheritance. I was scared of getting scammed and I called her every day. I’m sure was a pest but she reassured me all the time that she would get it. She even called me a couple of times to see if I was ok. Because of her , she told me to the last minute the name of the driver and when they would arrived. She was God send. Nicole thank you so much for being an angel. You don’t know what it meant to me for my daughter getting her inheritance.
